New events: 

Our September meeting will be on Saturday, the 18th, from 11:00 to 12:00 in the ballroom. That's directly after Al Melvin's Town Hall, which begins at 9:00 and will feature Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett talking about the state budget, present and future, featuring his illustrative piles of kleenex boxes.  Our meeting will be a workshop on how we can help get out the vote in November.

Note also that Democrats took over Congress in 2007; the larger deficit in 2008 was their work.  What Pres. Obama inherited was the much smaller deficit in fiscal year 2007.


This chart shows the Federal deficit for the years 2000  to 2019 as recorded and projected by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO).  Note that the deficit as shown is not cumulative.  Each bar represents only that year's contribution to the total deficit.
